Following the successful Romeo and Juliet Docklands, The Space, Isle of Dogs 2009, Admiration Theatre are creating Tower Hamlet. Five different groups of actors prepare different scenes from the play, each working in a different theatre tradition.  Actors are also researching the cultural history of the Borough and different locations in Tower Hamlets to put into the scenes and the characters.

The Project is Directed by John Seaforth who spent many years in the training and practices of many groups and companies across Europe, especially France, Italy and Poland.  He has trained in all five methods including touring in the original Ur-Hamlet by Odin Teatret, studying Corporeal Mime with Ella Jaroszewicz at Magenia in Paris, and studying under Philippe Gaulier.  He is a member of the Equity Theatre Directors Committee, and has taught at the Actors Centre, as well as in France and Poland.

Rehearsals began in July, and have included a Seminar with 44 professional actors on the Traditions of Shakespeare in Contemporary Britain, the performance Ghost Song Shakespeare at The Courtyard Theatre 30 October to 1 November exploring Shakespeare in different traditions, and The Theatre Conference Tower Shakespeare at the Brady Arts Centre, Monday 7 December, open to the public to see our performances and take part in our training and discussions of the project.

As well as an excellent artistic play, entertaining and educational, we would like to see a greater public debate on theatre as an art form, and invite theatre research on our work to be documented by theatre teachers, students, trainee actors and critics.
